A Message from the Potter: Before the Bloom

Hi friends,
March always feels like the in-between.
Winter hasn’t fully let go, spring hasn’t fully arrived, and everything is a little… muddy. The air starts to soften, the light hangs around a little longer, and you can feel something changing—even if the trees are still bare and the mornings are still cold.
I used to think growth was supposed to look obvious. Like you’d wake up one day and feel “better.” Braver. More creative. More put together.
But clay has taught me something different.
Growth is usually quiet. It’s steady. It happens in the messy middle—when you’re still figuring it out, still showing up, still making small choices that don’t feel dramatic but add up to everything. It’s the work you do before anyone sees the finished piece.
March feels like that.
At the studio, this is the season where I’m refining. Testing. Tweaking. Listening. Some pieces come together easily, and others take a few tries—and honestly, that’s true for people, too. The in-between isn’t a failure. It’s part of the process.
So if you’re feeling a little muddy right now—tired, hopeful, unsure, excited, all at once—welcome. You’re not behind. You’re not broken. You’re becoming.
And becoming counts.
With muddy hands and a warm heart,
Cris
