Light in the Making

Hi friends,

As the year winds down and the days grow shorter, I find myself drawn to the gentle glow of the kiln — that quiet heartbeat of the studio that keeps burning through even the coldest days. The orange light spilling from its door feels like a reminder: there is warmth in the work, and transformation in the waiting.

Clay has always mirrored life for me. It begins soft and uncertain, then hardens in the fire into something strong, enduring, and full of purpose. Every year feels a bit like that process — shaped by challenge, refined by growth, and glazed by gratitude.

This December, I’m holding onto the light we’ve built together — the joy shared in classes, the laughter echoing across tables, the quiet courage of people trying something new. Art, I’ve learned, is not just what we make; it’s who we become in the making.

Reflecting on this year, I see how much has changed. The studio has grown, new faces have joined our creative family, and I’ve grown too — not just as a potter, but as a person. Each month has taught me something new: about patience, imperfection, gratitude, and the beauty of community.

As we close the year, I hope you carry a little of that light with you — a reminder that even in the quiet seasons, creativity keeps glowing, soft and steady.

Here’s to another year of muddy hands, open hearts, and the art of becoming.

With muddy hands and a warm heart,

Cris

Now it’s time for some much-needed cuddle time with my favorite studio boys, Beans and Zumi. Ending the day curled up with them is my favorite reminder of how grateful I am for this little studio family — and for you being part of it. 🤎🐾
