Meet Laura Wood, an acrylic painting instructor at Crisanthemum Studios. We are excited to share her story, teaching style, and what students can expect in her classes.


There is something special about an instructor who makes people feel at ease the moment they walk in the room. That is exactly what Laura Wood of Laura’s Brushes brings to Crisanthemum Studios.

Laura is the studio’s acrylic artist, teaching acrylic painting and possibly jewelry making in the future. Her classes are bright, approachable, and full of encouragement. She provides the kind of experience that helps people relax, try something new, and leave feeling proud of what they created.



What Laura loves most about teaching is giving people a sense of peace and a way to express themselves. She hopes students leave class feeling accomplished and a little more confident than when they arrived. Not only in what they painted but in what they are capable of creating on their own.

That heart for teaching has been part of her story for a long time.


Laura shared that she always wanted to be a teacher and was originally on the path to teaching art in public school. As she advanced in her degree, art programs were being cut, which led her to step away for a time. From there, she worked as a daycare teacher and later with a company serving children with special needs. That path eventually led her into art therapy, and from that work came one-on-one teaching, painting classes, art camps, and traveling to other locations to teach.


Laura’s work is colorful, expressive, and inviting. Whether she is painting whimsical sea life, floral scenes, seasonal charm, or playful animal portraits, her classes make creativity feel accessible. Her paintings have a way of drawing people in without making them feel intimidated. They are joyful, eye catching, and full of personality. The perfect combination for students who want a creative night out and a finished piece they feel proud to take home.


And if someone is nervous or brand new?

Laura’s message is simple: “You got this, just trust me and yourself.”
