Our beloved Pen Friends will continue to grow in 2026, with new launches sprinkled throughout the year. Each one brings its own personality and charm — a reminder that creativity doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful.

Behind the scenes, we’re testing glazes and refining what will become our 2026 glaze combinations. Every test tile, kiln opening, and adjustment is part of the magic. Alongside new glazes, we’ll also be introducing new handmade pieces — thoughtful, functional work meant to be used and loved every day.

Our instructors are dreaming up new classes and workshops for the year ahead — experiences that balance learning, creativity, and joy. Whether you’re trying something new or gathering with others to make, creativity will always be welcome here.

As the year comes to a close, I find myself sitting with a feeling that’s hard to put into words — a mix of gratitude, pride, disbelief, and deep appreciation.

This year marked our first year on Main Street in downtown Pilot Mountain, and what a year it has been.

Crisanthemum Studios didn’t just open its doors — it found its people.

From the beginning, this space was imagined as more than a pottery studio. It was meant to be a place where creativity feels accessible, people feel welcomed exactly as they are, and handmade work becomes part of everyday life. Watching that vision take shape has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

And it happened because of you.

This year, we welcomed so many first-time glazers — people who walked in curious, sometimes nervous, unsure if they were “creative enough.”
They left smiling. They left proud. They left saying, “Wow… I did that.”

Whether it was a mug, bowl, spoon rest, or keepsake, each piece carried more than color — it carried confidence, joy, and a moment of pause.

You trusted us with your time, creativity, and stories — and that trust means everything.

This year brought milestones we’re proud of, including being recognized as an NC Destination Business. But the real milestones were the packed tables, quiet conversations, families who made glazing a tradition, and visitors who found us by chance and left feeling connected.

There is something truly special about being a small business on Main Street in Downtown Pilot Mountain. This town welcomed us with open arms — neighbors, fellow business owners, and locals who proudly bring others to “their” pottery studio.

Everything we do comes back to one belief: handmade belongs in everyday life.

Our pottery is meant to be used — for morning coffee, shared meals, quiet moments, and meaningful gifts.

This studio exists because of you.
