The Art of Letting Go

Hi friends,
Every October, the trees remind me that letting go can be beautiful. Here in northern North Carolina, the hills start to glow in shades of gold and crimson, and the air carries that first hint of woodsmoke. It’s the season when everything feels softer, slower, and somehow more honest.
I see the same truth reflected in clay. There are moments when a piece I’ve spent hours shaping suddenly resists me — it collapses, cracks, or simply asks to begin again. It used to frustrate me, but now I see it for what it is: part of the process. Sometimes we have to release what we expected to make room for what’s meant to be.
Fall has its own rhythm — one of release, reflection, and quiet transformation. The trees don’t fight the wind. The clay doesn’t resist the fire. And I’m learning to follow their lead.
So this month, I’m giving myself permission to slow down, to shed the weight of perfection and trust the turning of the seasons. I hope you’ll do the same. There’s beauty in the letting go — and peace in knowing we don’t have to hold everything forever.
With muddy hands and a warm heart,
Cris
