Handmade Art, Small-Town Heart
When I dreamed of opening a pottery studio, I knew it had to be more than just a place to create. It had to feel like home, rooted in community and connection. That’s why Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, became the perfect place for Crisanthemum Studios to bloom.
Pilot Mountain is a small town with a big heart. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it’s a place where creativity and community go hand in hand. There’s a rhythm here that matches the work of pottery — slow, steady, and intentional. The scenic beauty, the local businesses, and the spirit of the people remind me daily why handmade matters.
Why Here, Why Now
When I first set up my wheel in the basement of my home, I dreamed of one day creating a space where pottery could bring people together. Pilot Mountain gave me that chance. This town believes in supporting small businesses, in lifting up local makers, and in celebrating artistry. From the farmers market to the festivals, I’ve seen firsthand how neighbors show up for one another.
A Studio That Reflects the Town
Crisanthemum Studios is more than pottery. It’s a place where stories are shared, creativity blossoms, and neighbors gather. By planting roots here, I wanted to create a studio that mirrors the spirit of Pilot Mountain — welcoming, warm, and a little bit whimsical.
When you step into the studio, you’re not just walking into a shop. You’re stepping into a creative hub. Whether you’re glazing a mug, attending a class, or simply browsing the shelves, my hope is that you feel the same sense of connection that I feel every day living and working here.
Pilot Mountain Pottery, A Community Tradition
North Carolina has a rich pottery tradition, and Pilot Mountain carries that legacy forward. Visitors from across the state — and beyond — come here to discover handcrafted goods and meaningful experiences. I’m honored that Crisanthemum Studios can be part of that story, offering both functional art for everyday life and opportunities for people to create their own.
