Meet Gretchen: Creativity, Care, and a Whole Lot of Heart

Some people walk into a space and instantly make it feel lighter. More welcoming. More alive.

That’s Gretchen.

From her friendly smile to her natural charisma, Gretchen brings warmth and creativity into Crisanthemum Studios every time she walks through the door. She’s someone who genuinely loves people, animals, and the magic that happens when creativity and community come together.

A Creative Spirit (with a Big Heart for Animals)

If there’s one thing you should know about Gretchen, it’s that she has a huge heart — especially for animals.

She’s an animal lover through and through, sharing her life with two dogs, Sweet Sweet and Banjo, and a cat named Frida. And if that weren’t enough, Gretchen is also known for rescuing kittens, helping get them fixed, and doing her part to responsibly care for the local kitty population. Yes — rumor has it she may even have a few kittens up for adoption. (Just saying.)

Her compassion shows up in everything she does, and it’s one of the many reasons she fits so beautifully into the studio.

From the Dobson Ground Steak Festival to the Studio

Gretchen and Crisanthemum Studios first crossed paths two years ago at the Ground Steak Festival in Dobson — one of those chance meetings that turns out to be anything but random.

Now, she’s part of the studio team, bringing her energy, curiosity, and creativity into the space. She works a full-time job from home and joins us part-time because she wanted something more — a creative environment, a sense of community, and a place to grow as an artist.

We’re grateful she chose us.

Shipping, Apprenticing, and Keeping Creativity Flowing

Gretchen’s role at the studio includes shipping and apprentice work, making sure handmade pieces safely make their way to new homes. She’s also stepping into her role as Apprentice #2, where she’ll be helping with stocking and maintaining our glaze-your-own section — keeping it fresh, organized, and ready for the next creative moment.

Her word for the studio is creativity, and it couldn’t be more fitting. Gretchen thrives in environments where imagination is encouraged and ideas are welcome, and she brings that energy into every task she takes on.

No One Word — Just a Whole Lot of Possibility

When it comes to a Word of the Year, Gretchen simply couldn’t choose. There are too many good ones — and honestly, that tracks.

If we had to choose one for her, it might be curiosity. She shows up open-minded, eager to learn, and ready to explore what’s possible — in art, in community, and in herself.
